I have a very serious concern ...

I have a very serious concern about this company, Timber Hill Tree Service in Charlotte, NC. We used this company (owner Mark) to remove a tree that had fallen on our house. His original quote was $1300 (we did not sign this, he just handed it to us). The work was done on Friday 5/13. I sent payment through my online banking on Monday 5/16. He left an invoice in the mailbox that week for $1150, so I stopped payment on the first check & resent a new check on 5/20 for $1150 per his invoice. He called on 5/20 & was very rude calling me (forgive my language) a f'ing a'hole, yelled for a good 10-15 minutes & hung up on me because I had sent the payment through online banking instead of leaving it in the mailbox for him to pick-up. I did call him back to continue the conversation & he kept saying I owed him more ($1300) because he didn't get paid immediately. (He had dropped his guys off to do the work & never came back. I was prepared to pay him the day he did the work, but he never came back, so I mailed the check.) He ended the conversation saying "Just pay the $1150. You're not worth it." & hung up again. He also sent a text to my husband calling me a jerk & saying to also just pay $1150. The check was delivered & cashed on 5/27, exactly 14 days after the work was done. He has since sent a new bill for $1375, saying I now also owe him for the stopped payment fee on the first check. I pay my bank that fee, not him. If he tried to cash it & received a fee from his bank, that's not my problem. I told him on the phone that I had stopped payment on the first check & reissued a new check. (Trust me, he knew that because that really set him off again.) I have filed a complaint with the BBB, but I also wanted to bring your attention to this since I know your site is a trusted site & this man cannot be trusted. His employees were very kind, but his approach to this situation & his phone call to me were simply unacceptable & very unprofessional.
