General Info
***Services Include*** ~AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program ($40)~ Puppy must be a year old or younger to attend the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program. The program runs 30 minutes to a hour once a week for 6 weeks and then tested at the end. ~AKC Canine Good Citizen Test ($10)~ There is no age limit for the CGC test. A dog is never too old to be a good citizen. Puppies who have completed all immunizations and boosters may be tested, however, because we know that behavior and temperament can change over time, when puppies pass the CGC test, owners should have them re-tested as adults. CGC Program is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. The Canine Good Citizen Program is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test may receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club. Some dogs who are entered in CGC tests will have completed CGC classes or basic obedience classes. Owners who have trained their dogs themselves may also have their dogs tested. ~AKC Canine Good Citizens Program ($160)~ The AKC Canine Good Citizens Program is a lot like our Beginner Obedience Classes but designed to help clients pass the AKC Canine Good Citizens Test. Classes will be once a week, 30-hour long, for 7 weeks, and the 7th week will be the AKC Canine Good Citizens Test, plus One Smart Pooch's Beginner Obedience Graduation. ~AKC Community Canine ($15)~ AKC Community Canine is the advanced level of the AKC's Canine Good Citizen Program. Dogs who pass the AKC Community Canine test earn the official AKC Community Canine title that is designated by the letters "CGCA" (Advanced CGC) on the dog's title record. Whereas Canine Good Citizen tests are most often tested in a ring and situations are simulated (e.g., 3 helpers serve as a "crowd"), the AKC Community Canine test is done in real situations including at shows, classes, and in the community. There is no age limit for dogs taking the AKC Community Canine test. However, before taking the test, dogs must have a Canine Good Citizen test on record at AKC. ~AKC Urban Canine Good Citizen ($20)~ AKC Urban CGC is a title in the Canine Good Citizen family of awards and titles that also include AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy, Canine Good Citizen and AKC Community Canine. AKC Urban CGC requires that the dog demonstrate CGC skills and beyond in an urban setting. As with Canine Good Citizen, AKC Urban CGC has a 10-step test of skills that dogs must pass to earn the official AKC Urban CGC title. This is a title that appears on the dog’s title record at AKC. The goal of AKC Urban CGC is to test the dog’s skills in an urban (city) setting. To earn the AKC Urban CGC (CGCU) title, dogs must meet the following two requirements: Must already have a Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certificate or title on record at AKC. Must have an AKC number of one of 3 types (AKC registration number, PAL number, or AKC Canine Partners number). All dogs, including mixed breeds, can get an AKC number. (http://images.akc.org/cgc/number.pdf) ~Beginner Obedience ($150)~ seven weekly hour long classes.
