The VA Medical Center serves more than 89,000 veterans in North Dakota, western Minnesota and northeastern South Dakota through its medical center and more than five community-based outpatient clinics. Operational since 1929, the center offers extended care services and rehabilitation programs. It provides mental health programs that focus on the evaluation and treatment of a variety of issues that can impact emotional well-being. The VA Medical Center s pharmacy processes over 5,000 prescriptions per day. The center also offers research and primary care services. Its women's health program includes menopause treatment and reproductive, maternity and preventive care services. The VA Medical Center is a part of the Department of Veterans Affairs.
