General Info
Located inside the well loved Flint Farmers Market, A Bit of Earth has a selection of the best children's books. With 18 years experience in the book world, the owner Hope LaFuente fits fits this small space with unique titles she has discovered on her journey as a bookseller. "Being out on the floor, shelving and talking with your community about what is popular, what authors the teachers love and what the kids are reading is really the secret of my success, you have to know the book world and love it. That's how I knew opening a fun shop was my calling." Tired of "corporate guidelines" and "cookie cutter" displays that had nothing to do with what events were happening around town, she knew it was time to move on. Being at the market as a bookshop location is such a joy, where else can you grocery shop, listen to music, join an exercise class and buy a book? Being in a place that is also resurrecting a city and flooding it with hope is a perfect match to what my mission is in life and as a business owner. Bringing in the younger generation and getting them excited about places in their community is just about the best way to ensure a bright future for that city. A Bit of Earth also has teen titles and used books. There is also nature items like rocks and gems, local items, very unique greeting cards and snacks. The market has free Wi-Fi, and plenty of places to lunch and get coffee. It's just such a nice place to visit.
