I am a retired vet tech w/nearly twenty years experience w/pets in general. I had a dog cremated at a facility that pulverizes (like Western Farms) & many pets cremated at the vet clinic where I worked (no pulverizer). After examining the remains returned to me from Western Farms in May,2011, I am convinced that WF combines multiple pets to a certain weight that their chamber accomodates for combined cremation/pulverizing & returns a mix of those pets' remains. The "ashes" of my 4 pound Chinese Crested weigh more than my dog did. My 4 pound Chihuahua cremated/pulverized in Columbus was a tiny amount of clean bone like fragments that fit in my palm. When a pet is only cremated, you get a sense of closure w/the bones & skull (& weights tend to match). I know that it's only a dog that is dead, but you PAY to have YOUR PET's remains returned to you.
