Welcome to Paulus Hook Pet Care—a fully insured and bonded dog-walking and pet-sitting service on the Jersey City waterfront. My name is John H. I’m a lifelong animal lover and longtime pet caregiver, with experience handling dogs of all breeds and sizes, cats, fish, and even birds. My approach to pet care is one of thoughtfulness, individualized attention, patience, and flexibility. Every animal, not to mention client, is different—what works for one may not for another. And while I certainly appreciate an easygoing dog, I specialize in handling those with behavioral and developmental issues. I believe that brisk exercise is key to a physically and psychologically healthy pup. As a member of organizations like the ASPCA and BARCS Animal Rescue and Care Shelter, I have been lucky over the years to foster and help rehabilitate animals of various ages, tendencies, and temperaments. Today I live with a German shepherd/terrier mix named Murphy, a lutino cockatiel called Victor, an African grey parrot who answers to Byron, and three unnamed (but much-loved) neon tetra fish. My pets mean everything to me, so I understand exactly how much yours mean to you.
