AVOID AT ALL COSTS! The therapist, Rosa Whitmer, was very rude, unprofessional, and interrupted my husband numerous times while they were filling out the paperwork. My husband and his ex didn't even make it past the 30 minutes of paperwork before she told them the situation was too "convulated" and she didn't want to do business with them. They were only there as per court orders to work on communication between them as parents, but the therapist stated that, that's not what was going to take place and insinuated their daughter was mentally unstable. Their daughter wasn't even part of the therapy! She informed them, "Let me show you how this works," as she shredded their paperwork in front of them, billed them for an hour, and told them "We did NOT do business today."

They contacted me for MY billing info and insurance a week later. The manager and therapist both threatened to bill ME and send ME to collections to demand a payment. I wasn't even there at all nor even in the building!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! After signing a bunch of paperwork and waiting an hour in a run down building I went back to see the dr. Who I had an appt. With dr. Jain, he said he would not treat me. He rumbled something about needing to see my prior history, which I said I could get. He just told me to go to cherokee or helen ross mcnabb, which had actually referred me to him ( he said of course they did because he's the best!! Lol! No its because the center accepts my bad gov. Insurance!) because they can't prescribe many medications and have long waiting lists and I desperately need stability and help. I pleaded with him that I have a 3 yr old and need to be back on my medication but he refused, he clearly lacked ANY empathy. Even as I was crying and begging that I couldn't find another dr. He didn't care. And when I was leaving the women behind the window rolled her eyes at me! Why did they even make an appointment and have me sign paperwork?! Its a run down place anyway.

beware

I went to this place to look for help and found arrogance and judgement. Dr. Jain was condescending and angry. I would never recommend this place to anyone and cant believe how I was treated.

Exceptional

I have been associated with one of the therapists for 20 years. I have worked at two of the places she has worked. I was also a patient. I am simply amazed at how this center works with the at-risk population. Recently divorced and suffered some depression. I wanted my son to see some-one. Colvin Idol was suggested. My child did not believe in counseling and didn't trust any-one. I bribed him for one visit. He has really came a long way. He smiles and gets out of bed and expresses his feelings. He stands up for himself and is now living life instead of existing. He actually says I feel better when we leave and I get to enjoy him as he shares with me on the way home. I remember Colvin Idol from Public T.V. I Had no idea he was doing more for the people in our community. His wife Saroj Chand is remarkable as well. She is from India and very much an advocate for women, children and men. I have been recently aware of the Anger Management Group. I have known of several people ordered by the courts. For those that really want to change, they offered individual counseling. It seems through the grape-vine and personal experiences, the men feel they are really learning something, they never understood things as such as gesturing. They then begin to work on character defects, which we all have. Thanks! Alternative Counseling Center. You are indeed a refuge from many storms.

Counseling is not for crazy insane folks, It is at it's best for those those of us who know we need a little help!
