General Info
Care Providers of Minnesota (CPM) was established in 1947 to be a full, supportive partner for long-term care providers. It exists to serve the needs of its members, and to support them in providing the highest quality care to their many, varied customers. It is an Association of members, and it is the membership that drives the organization. In 1947, as now, the industry faced challenges that required an effective advocacy and business support organization. The industry has changed dramatically in all its facets, and CPM has changed in step. When appropriate-as determined by the membership-the Association provides advocacy, public relations, business, and educational leadership to give its members-and the industry as a whole-the tools it needs to grow and thrive. The industry has diversified, become more professional, and taken on greater challenges. The Association now represents a widely diversified group of providers, from traditional nursing facilities to highly specialized subacute centers and every type of disability services and senior housing provider. The industry has adopted new technologies to cope with evolving healthcare and regulatory and employment environments. The Association has built an interactive Internet Business Center, and adopted distance education, teleconferencing, and other efficiency-producing methods to help members meet these challenges. Care Providers of Minnesota is affiliated with the American Health Care Association (AHCA) and the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) and thus addresses the concerns affecting its membership on both the state and the national level. None of this change has replaced the core fact of long-term care. At its heart, it is still the relationship between the caregivers and the consumers of care that matters. Among providers, it is the people who make the care good and the system work. The Association is the people in the membership and on the staff who devote themselves to improving conditions for the members and for their clients.
