Was a nightmare the food was good but the service was racist as well as fraud. I attended Botanas with 2 guests I was told we had to pay a 10% tip, in which the bill was 90.00. My guest were on a budget, we could leave a 4.00 dollar tip and we requested a manager she was very defensive and stated its not the policy -but it would be the right the thing to do. After the talk with management, our server became very angry and grabbed the bill from my guest hand w/o saying anything and demanded to be paid right away for another drink and my guest grabbed the bill back and he took the drink. While he grabbed the drink my guest pushed the drink in his hands, which caused it to fall on the floor. The waiter stated why you people even come here and called the police on us. I would never return and I hope other African-American take this in learn...

Botanas has the best authentic mexican food in the city along with exceptional service and cleanliness!

The past two times I have gone to this restaurant they have attempted to cheat us out of money. The first time, they charged my boyfriends credit card for twice the amount that they were supposed to. We caught it on his credit card statement and complained to the manager. They did refund us the money, so we figured it was an honest mistake.



I was there again last night for dinner and the bill was $69.20 I paid $60 cash and they were to put the rest on the credit card, which would have been $9.20. The man who took our money charged the card for $19.20. When I disputed this with him, he pulled a roll of bills out of his pocket (including many singles, which I assume were his tips, so I'm not sure why he pocketed the money I paid the bill with in the first place) and stated that we only paid him $50. We got the manager involved and he simply said "My employee says you only paid us $50." I explained to him that I in fact had given him $60 and asked him how we were going to resolve this since it was basically a case of my word vs. the employee. The manager had nothing to say and would not refund us the $10.



I know it's a small amount of money, however it's the principle. The man obviously had pocketed the money. On top of that, since we all know this is a place people go for margaritas, who knows how many drunk people they are cheating out of money?



If you do choose to frequent this restaurant, be careful when you pay your bill.

The margaritas are the best in town. The wait staff is excellent. The food is always hot and fresh.
