Food is very authentic,

This restaurant is great! Their homemade pasta are fabulous! They make the best gnocchi. And The Beef tenderloin With Gorgonzola sauce Is delicious! There's no restaurant like Lorcio! In New Haven

We ate at this restaurant last Friday. I was very disappointed.

After ordering, it took more than a full hour to receive our meals. We were just on the brink of leaving when they came.

The salad was a poor wilted mess with little dressing and no cheese, more like something made of leftovers.

I had the penne pasta ... supposedly with sausage and pepperoni. There were about three crumbs of tasteless sausage, no pepperoni, and a rather acidic tomato sauce.

As almost all pasta dishes have a tomato-based sauce, I couldn't see any reason at all why it took more than an hour to be served.

The lack of real variation in the menu, costly sides that are poorly prepared, and unrealistic wait times make this a place I'd go to again only if the nearby McDonalds closed at noon.

I don't get why people are gonzo over this place. Besides the cute courtyard, I don't really find this place appealing at all. I've been there for a business lunch & also for a romantic date night & both times, the food was just O-K. The waiter we had wasn't very attentive and the food is way overpriced for what we were served. I had the home-made parpadelle which was delicious, but the sauce (a meat sauce) it was served in tasted like hamburger helper. I definitely would not recommend this place - you're better off going to Goodfellas down the street for a true Italian dining experience.

Old World Quality

If I didn't know I was in New Haven, I'd think I was in Italy. Great quality cuisine and even better service. A hidden gem in the New Haven restaurant scene.

I attended a private dinner pa...

I attended a private dinner party on the upper level. The low lighting made it difficult to read the menus so we grouped the tealight candles together. However, the ambience was intimate and warm and the service was flawless. A bowl of Prince Edward mussels were excellent, with a delicious broth to "soup up" with crusty bread. All of the entrees, whether pasta, meat or fish, I had difficulty deciding what to order. The hazelnut gelato was "off the charts"! I will be coming here again to try more of the scrumptious dishes, including the homeade pasta.

Notably good service experience

This is absolutely the best restaurant in New Haven! The food is superlative. The service is so accommodating that it makes you feel that you are the only patrons there. Most importantly, the owners Allison and Francesco are so kind, so generous, and so concerned about the quality of your experience. I adore them and I cant recommend L'Orcio highly enough.
