He has an unrelenting desire to give his patients the absolute best experience and outcome that hands can provide and believes every point of contact is an opportunity to positively impact the patient experience.Dr. Kanter serves as Associate Executive Medical Director, Pickup Family Neurosciences Institute and Chief of Neurosurgery, Hoag Specialty Clinic. His practice focus is on lateral access surgical techniques and minimally invasive interbody fusion.Prior to joining Hoag, Dr. Kanter served as Chief of Spine Surgery and as Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. A respected researcher, inventor and surgeon, Dr. Kanter is board certified in neurological surgery.In his free time, Dr. Kanter loves to spend time outdoors with his wife and children and southern California is the perfect location for outdoor fun.
