I really wanted to love Carol’s Puppy Paradise, especially because there have been some nice reviews written and it is geared toward small dogs(our pup is 13lbs), unfortunately our time at Puppy Paradise was less than stellar. In all, we sent our puppy roughly two days a week for about a year. She LOVES to play with other dogs but is super submissive so I am left wondering if she was a nag or nuisance in some way that I didn’t expect. Dating back to about a year ago it took Carol months to learn our dog’s name (this was with repeated kind reminders and never an aggressive tone - after all we were the dummies who let our son name her Nya - like Mia except with an N… long story). We were a bit put off by the strict rules that you can only drop off between 8-10 and pick up between 4-6. A few times I would be arriving home from work at 3:45 and literally was forced to wait until 4:10 for her to open the door to let my dog out. This summer our dog wasn’t very regular with her attendance and I think this might be where I dropped the ball. Carol had never made any rules clear to us about letting her know if Nya wasn’t attending and we were under the assumption it was run more like a drop in service. On 2 separate occasions we were incorrectly billed for dates our dog did not attend. We were never angry about this and politely asked that it be corrected. After this most recent request, Carol informed me that effective the next day she was changing her business model and no longer taking part-time dogs. When I inquired if that meant all part-timers would receive this message she agreed that is what she meant. When no one else heard this “new policy” I inquired further to which she responded “Nya is too high maintenance” and that she was feeling “bullied”. I am dumbfounded and now pretty annoyed. I have tried to be reasonable but the way Carol runs her business is super unprofessional and I wish I had been warned ahead of time.
