I bought a subwoofer for my van a couple months back I took van home on the way couldn’t even listen to music w o a head ache. The bass was way to loud and not pleasant I like a lot of bass but this was crude unpleasant and the highs were really high they were supposed to adjust the amp I had put in plus they burnt a hole in my seat cost400.00 I took it back and they tried to show me how the radio worked I said no u have to adjust the amp like you said u would so I’m taking them to small claims on Monday they will lie but don’t think they get far go to the place on mt hope there the pros I should have I didn’t know the stereo shop was so bad there’s never any one in the store when I went there the sales man will sell u any thing he can’t be trusted

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE



This is the WORSE company EVER!! We had an appointment scheduled for a TV wall install along with a surround sound mounting. I received a call that the installers were on their way so I left work early. On my way home they called me again and said we need to charge you $75 because of where you live. I informed them that this was NEVER conveyed and wanted to speak to the manager. I spoke to Matt who indicated that the owner said they needed to charge us this fee. Although this was not conveyed and was upset by this, I agreed to pay it. I then received another call indicating that the owner told the installers not to come out and to go home. I asked to speak directly with the owner but was informed that he was not available! I was assured that he would contact me---HE NEVER DID!!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS SHADY COMPANY!!

My husband got me a remote starter for Christmas 2011, so sweet! My car is manual transmission and no one else in town will touch them because you have to override a safety feature to install, but the Stereo Shop assured him they were trained and able to do this. The remote start they installed was done improperly and after 3 trips back to let them "fix it" I asked for our money back. I had brought my car to the dealer I bought it from and the mechanics there said that Stereo Shop had messed with the wiring in a way that they wouldn't touch and for me to bring it back to be uninstalled by SS. The owner or store manager, Christopher Brent, who was a real gem of a customer service leader, told me that we could only have store credit if we returned the starter. I told him that I had no faith in his services and would not buy anything there ever again - that they sold us a service that they could not deliver and no return policy in the world warrants the withholding of a refund in that circumstance. He berated me and my father in his store, so I decided to go another route. I filed a claim with the Better Business Bureau. The store manager/owner was quick to smooth things over and offered the refund. I repealed the BBB complaint as that was his condition for the refund, however after a full week of not refunding our money, I refiled the complaint. He finally issued the refund, saying that we got lost in the shuffle and he never intended to withhold the refund. Liar, but we did finally get our money back and my dealer said there was no permanent damage to my car... seriously, though? All that, when they could have been honest from the get-go and said (as every other install shop in town says) that they can't do a manual transmission remote start install. I guess there's a reason they are the only ones who will do it - they lied, they tried to steal our money when the lie was found out and they caused a lot of stress for me and my family for about a month while we fought with them. I realize this is my side of the story and I am biased, but I hope that my story will influence you enough to realize there are better businesses in town that you can work with instead of this incredibly low class establishment. If I can save even one customer from making the mistake we made, then my time spend in writing this review is well worth it! Good luck shopping :)

Thanks for your kind review of our Henrietta store, BMACK1576. Dave Lane’s Stereo Shop has become a completely separate store from the Greece and Webster locations. Since then we’ve strived to deliver outstanding customer service along with the best electronics prices in Rochester. Hope you’ll stop by our store again soon!

Awesome Store

I recently stopped into the store for a new TV and WOW. I couldn't believe the many different models they have and I've never dealt with a staff that knows more about their products. I used to go to places like Best Buy only to be read the tag off the TV which I could do myself, these guys at Stereo Shop actually know what they're talking about. They're lifetime service plan is awesome too, they'll cover labor forever, instead of trying to charge you eveytime you need it looked at like most places do. I was able to get good sized TV and an awesome surround sound system, its like I have a theater in my house!



After my experience with my entertainment system, I had them install a remote starter. I dropped my car off in the morning and they called me when it was done and the system works great, I can start my car from what seems likes miles away!



Overall its a very cool store with helpful and knowledgable staff, I'll definately be going back to get a new stereo system for my car.

One Stop Electronics Shop

I have been buying electronics in Rochester for nearly 20 years from the Stereo Shop. Over the years there have been many locations (My favorite was the one on East Ave) to choose from and they always took good care of me. Usually when I read these reviews I laugh a little at the people who get very upset at one small thing. I look at the history of the company and usually find that most people who get upset over the small things are often just angry people. I guess the stores have always been privately owned, but the only stores that are still the orginal Stereo Shop are located in Greece and Webster. The one in Henrietta seems to have changed its name or is no longer affiliated, I can't tell. Either way, I would not shop anywhere else for TV's and Theater gear and I go to the shop in Webster on Empire Blvd because it is the closest to me and the guys always take the time to answer my questions.

BUYERS BEWARE!!!

I PURCHASED A REMOTE STARTER FOR MY WIFE BEFORE CHRISTMAS. I SCHEDULED MY APPOINTMENT WITH MY SALESMAN, WHO KEPT RUNNING BACK TO GET A "PRICE" FROM THEIR MYSTERIOUS INSTALLER. WHICH BY THE WAY JUMPED UP $50 FROM THE ORIGINAL PRICE I WAS QUOTED OVER THE PHONE, BECAUSE I NEEDED THEIR "ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT". ON MY ACTUAL APPOINTMENT DAY I SHOWED UP WITH THE CAR TO 3 SALESMEN STANDING BEHIND THE DESK WITH BLANK STARES ON THEIR FACES. THEY ASKED FOR MY NAME AND VECHICLE, AND THEN TOLD ME THEY DIDNT HAVE ME ON THE SCHEDULE. THEY TOLD ME TO WAIT A MINUTE, WHICH TURNED INTO 20 MINUTES ONLY TO COME BACK AND SAY THAT THEY ARE TO BOOKED TO FIX THEIR MISTAKE!!!!!!!!!! AND OF COURSE THE IMMEDIATELY POINT TO THE NOTE ON THE STARTER BOX THAT SAYS I CAN ONLY REFUND IT FOR STORE CREDIT....APPARENTLY EVEN IF ITS THEIR MISTAKE. SO I GO TO THE STEREO SHOP IN HENREITTA TO GET IT INSTALLED, AND UNDERSTAND THIS. THE MANAGER AT THE HENRIETTA STORE SAID THAT GREECE ISN'T EVEN ASSOCIATED WITH THEM, AND ONLY THE HENRIETTA LOCATION IS THE REAL STEREO SHOP. I JUST WISH I WOULD HAVE KNOW. SAVE YOUR MONEY, GO TO HENRIETTA'S STEREOSHOP.

NO REFUNDS, NOT BBB ACCREDITED

Be careful and make sure you know exactly what you want when buying something here.



I bought a car starter+installation and thought I had paid in full. Later told me (during installation) I needed to pay an additional $50. I refused and said I wanted a refund or told them they could do it for the original price. They refused and said I could only have store credit. What the hell am I supposed to use store credit at the stereo shop for!?



Other similar businesses in Rochester area are BBB Accredited and give cash refunds.

Extremely Satisfied!

I thought outside the big box and won in every way!!! I normally do all my electronics shopping through circuit city or best buy untill i stepped inside the stereo shop. i was really suprised with the store layout and the smiles i received when i walked in. it was just nice to actually be addressed promptly with someone who could actually help me with anything i needed. i originally just had a couple questions about purchasing a new high-definition television.....all said and done i now have a brand new 52" sony mounted on my wall with an amazing denon surround sound system and a remote control that controls everything with the push of one button!! And to top everything...they have a LIFETIME GUARANTEE on all their products FOR FREE! i definately found a new home for all my electronic needs.Thank you STEREO SHOP.

Great All-Around Electronics Shop

Great location and showroom. Staff was exceptionally knowledgable, not pushy and non-commissioned. Showroom was large with tons of products on display to see and experience before any purchases are made. And you can't neglect their FREE LIFETIME SERVICE! Five dollar registration fee and the store will cover any estimate fees and/or labor for necessary repairs for as long as you own your product.
