I called Mountain West for my ...

I called Mountain West for my yearly service on the furnace. I also wanted the UV light and the filter replaced. They told me on the phone it would be $59.00. I agreed to that price and asked how much a new UV light bulb would be. The lady on the phone said she thought it was an additional $40.00, but I would have to ask the technician when he arrived.

When the technician arrived, he went and looked at the furnace. Then he said he found a UV light that was already in my furnace room and he could replace the old one with the one I already had. He also put in the filters I already had.

Then he told me there was a switch on the furnace that wasn’t working and needed to be replaced. He said it makes the furnace run for 5 minutes and then shut off, so the house does not get warm. I told him I had not noticed anything wrong with my furnace. He assured me that it would not be noticeable, but it would still run up the electric bill. The price to replace it was approximately $150.00 dollars. I reluctantly agreed….

He brought my bill and had some very unreasonable charges. In addition to everything else, he was charging me $40.00 to put in the UV light (that I already owned), and $35.00 to put the filters (that I already owned) in. I was very upset and told him I would not be using Mountain West’s services in the future. So, he agreed to take off those charges since I was paying him to replace the bad switch. So again, I reluctantly agreed. The total came to $214.00.

So, two days later. My furnace is not working. It is doing the exact same thing he was supposedly fixing (which wasn’t broken in the first place). And there is no UV light. He just reset the timer.

Needless to say I have stopped payment on this check!
