I've always received poor customer service from this place, it's run by some crabby, aggressive old man. About a month ago, I was held hostage by this old man. Let me explain. This place advertises itself to be open until 9PM. About a month ago my GF, 3 YO daughter, and I went to drop something off in our storage really quick. It was about 8:35PM. We dropped off our ladder and went to leave. It was about 8:40. Our code would not work to let us out. My GF rang the buzzer to try and get help. Nothing. She rang again a few times. Nothing. Finally I went to leave though the walk in gate, to go to the office and try and find some help. About when I almost reached the gate, the crabby old man came out and started bitching at me for ringing the bell more then once. If he had come out in the 1st place, and answered back on the speaker, or better yet, not locked the gate until he was supposed to (his JOB, in other words), nobody would have had to ring more then once. The old man kept going on about that until I told him there was no need for the attitude, that the gate wasn't supposed to be locked yet, and (the shocker that he loved) that I had actually recorded (had my camcorder on me at the time) the sign stating the time it was supposed to close, the code we use to exit the gate not working, and the actual time it was. That's when he got REALLY irate, started calling me names, and told me that we would have to leave our car there, exit through the walk-in gate, and pick up the car tomorrow. Unacceptable, it still wasn't even 9PM yet (the time i'm supposed to be locked in), my GF and I both need the car to work, plus it was like 30 degrees outside, and my 3YO daughter only had her dress on. So basically he was holding my family hostage, because he got mad that he had to do his job. That's when I got out my camcorder again, recorded him telling me that he wasn't going to let me out even though it wasn't 9PM yet. Even with the camera in his face recording the old man was still talking crap! I'm going to upload the video to YouTube soon, and add a link to this review, so everyone here can see for themselves why they SHOULD NOT USE ON-GUARD MINI STORAGE. The old man did not let me out until I called 911 and told them that my family and I were being held hostage, and that I had the whole thing on video (I love video, I really, REALLY do). That's when he suddenly opened the gate, still talking crap. He threated to give us a 24 hour notice to get our stuff out of the storage. I told him if he did, I would sue his old ass. I never got a 24 hour notice, he was probably hoping the whole incident would disappear. It didn't.



Besides this incident they had been rude, and slow to do there jobs on many occasions, but nothing to get TOO pissed about. The staff is lazy and rude. And, as highlighted by this incident, if you try to get them to do their job, they may even try to get aggressive with you. Or, even worse, try to hold you hostage. AVOID ON GUARD MINI STORAGE!! There are plenty of other places in Yakima that will give you MORE room, for the same price, and aren't run by angry, lazy people.
